Spanish Boost Student Policies
Policies for Group Lessons
Payments and Late Payment Fees
Payments are accepted via bank transfer only. Payment will be due 48 hours before the scheduled starting time of the first lesson of the purchased pack. Students will be sent an invoice automatically when payment is due. Please note the billing system will add a 5% late payment surcharge if payment has not been received 48 hours before the starting time of the first lesson. If payment is delayed by one week from the due date the late payment fee will be automatically increased to 10%.
If the group agrees to have videos recordings of the lessons, please note these videos are for personal and private use only and you are not allowed to share them. Videos will be uploaded at least two days before the next lesson.
Duration of Lessons
Lessons will generally run for five minutes less than their nominal duration.
- 1h lessons will have an actual duration of 55 minutes
- 1h-30min lessons will have an actual duration of 1 hour and 25 minutes
- 2h lessons will have actual duration of 1 hour and 55 minutes
If you attend face to face lessons, we appreciate your punctuality, but please do not come before the time your lesson starts. Your teacher might be busy with another class.
Lesson Terms and Trial Lessons
Lessons are offered in terms. There are three terms per year, normally as follows:
Term 1: January-March. Term 2: April-July, Term 3: September-December.
The number of lessons per term may vary, ranging from 10 to 14 lessons.
There are no lessons during the summer holidays (last week in July and during August), Easter holidays and Christmas holidays. There are also no lessons during other UK school holidays: the third week in February, the last week in May, and the last week in October. These days will generally be blocked in the calendar. However, a few evenings during school holidays may be available for students.
New students may purchase three trial lessons before deciding to take lessons with Spanish Boost on a regular basis.
Please note payment for invoices cannot be made in instalments. Once a student has finished their 3 trial lessons they will be invoiced for the rest of the term and the full invoice amount will be payable. As mentioned above, terms have a duration ranging between 10 and 14 lessons.
There is no discount for purchasing the whole term without trial lessons.
Cancelling, Pausing or Transferring GROUP lesson packs
If a group student decides to stop studying with Spanish Boost altogether, there is no refund for remaining unused lessons.
Lessons are not transferable to other people.
Group students may not cancel individual lessons. Group lessons cannot be rescheduled. If a student cannot attend a lesson, they will be responsible for catching up with the rest of the group. They will receive a video to help them catch-up.
If, for any reason, Spanish Boost needs to cancel a lesson, this lesson will not be charged.

Cancelling, Pausing or Transferring 1:1 or 2:1 or 3:1 lessons
If a student decides to stop studying with Spanish Boost altogether, there is no refund for remaining unused lessons.
If a student has unused lessons and needs to pause the lessons for a while, the student may request this in advance to discuss it and plan it together with Spanish Boost. Pause requests are normally accepted. However, please note pausing is limited to three months. If a student decides to stop taking lessons for more than three months, they will lose the hours left unused.
When a student pauses the lessons the day and time previously scheduled for those lessons become available to other students. It is advisable for students resuming their lessons after a pause to check if the dates and times of their choice are available.
Lessons are not transferable to other people.
If, for any reason, Spanish Boost needs to cancel a lesson, this lesson will not be charged.
To cancel a specific lesson the student must use the Tutor Bird app. Cancelations must be made 48 hours before the lesson. Please note the system will allow the student to cancel lessons with less than 48-hour notice but they will be still be charged as lesson attended.
You must give 48-hour notice if you want to have make-up credits for the following term. You don’t need to communicate cancellations directly to your teacher, as she will receive an automatic notification.
You are entitled to cancel with 48-hour notice up to two sessions per term. These sessions will be converted into make-up credits that you pass on to the next term. Make-up credits are limited to 2 per term.
You may discuss with your teacher if you are planning not to attend any sessions during the term. If you already know you will not be available on certain days, these days will not be booked for you. However, students are generally expected to attend at least 70% of the sessions in a term. Attending less than 70% of the lessons in a term due to the addition of planned absences and 48-hour notice cancellations may lead to losing your slot in the following term.
You have the chance to move your session to another day and time available on your teacher’s calendar. First, you need to cancel a lesson with 48-hour notice and see a day and time with a space available so you can book it. You will not create make-credit or miss anything by doing this. It is just moving a lesson.
Please note if a student is constantly cancelling lessons, it may be necessary to pause their lessons and assign their slot to a new student.
If, for any reason, Spanish Boost needs to cancel a lesson, this lesson will not be charged.
